Karaoke is a great way to spend a night out with friends, where you can show off your belting skills while still partaking in some cocktails. Indianapolis has no shortage of karaoke locations where you can star in your concert or take a group of friends to switch off on the mic. Here are some of the best bars offering karaoke in Indianapolis.
The Free Spirit
The Free Spirit is a sports bar that has been in business for 25 years. It has plenty of space and a lovely patio for diners. It also has a huge dance floor that can accommodate a night full of dancing to the DJ. Thursday nights are for karaoke, where you can take the stage and "be free," as the website says. The event starts at 7 p.m. The Free Spirit is in the Castleton area and has a full menu, serving food until 2 a.m. It also offers breakfast all day, every day.
Maru Studio
Maru Studio is a full-service karaoke club. It offers Korean food and a great selection of drinks. You can rent a private karaoke room for you and your friends to control the song selection, removing any threat of stage fright. Maru Studio is on the east side of Indianapolis, right of the Pendleton Pike. It is family-owned and operated and has been in business for 15 years, offering excellent service and a wonderful karaoke experience.
Mondays are reservations only if you have a large party and want to secure a room ahead of time. Otherwise, you can stop in Wednesday through Sunday. Private rooms are around $25 per hour.
Zonie's Closet
Zonie's Closet is a great space where everyone is welcome. It's near downtown and is known for drag shows and dance parties. Zonie's takes reservations and offers well-priced drinks and cocktails. However, every Sunday at 8:30 pm, Zonie's turns into a karaoke bar, where anyone can take the stage and sing their heart out. Zonie's Closet opens at 3 p.m. and closes at midnight.
Metro
Metro is a popular bar and restaurant in Mass Ave, with DJs, dance floors, and pool tables. It is in the heart of the arts district in Indianapolis and has operated since 1990. They host karaoke every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. and claim it's the longest-running karaoke show in the city. It also has a full-service outdoor patio for when you need to cool off.
The kitchen operates on weekdays from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. and offers a variety of sandwiches, appetizers, and salads, along with vegan-friendly options. There is no cover charge at the metro, and it has drink specials daily.
Punch Bowl Social
Punch Bowl Social has a variety of activities at its South Meridian Street location, including a private karaoke room that you can rent by the hour. The entire bar has an arcade theme for adults, so you can give in to your inner child when your song comes on. It also has a happy hour between 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays. You can indulge in their full menu in between turns, which offers various American-style snacks and appetizers, and drink cold beers or expertly mixed cocktails.
Downtown Olly's
Downtown Olly's on Illinois Street hosts Karaoke events twice per week, Wednesday's Sling and Sing Karaoke, and Saturday's Ollywood Karaoke. You can get up in front of the bar and select your song to sing on either day between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. Any other night of the week, you can experience drag shows, live performances, and variety shows, or you can hang out on their large back patio. The kitchen is open 24/7, and the menu is full of burgers, fries, pizzas, and desserts.
Living Room Lounge
The Living Room Lounge, on Pennsylvania Street, has Karaoke beginning at 9 p.m. every Friday. There may be a $5 cover charge to get into Karaoke, but once you're inside, you can sing to your heart's content, play pool, and enjoy cheap drinks and food until closing time. It's a local spot full of regulars, so the crowd is always lively, whether you own the stage or dancing to a great DJ.
Black Circle Brewing Company
Black Circle Brewing Company offers its spin on karaoke on the fringe of Midtown and SoBro. On the first Tuesday of every month, you can join drag performer Kendra Stone on the stage to belt out your favorite karaoke tunes starting at 7 p.m. Afterward, you can stay for the beers brewed just three blocks away. They also offer guest taps from other local breweries and a collection of wines and ciders. If you aren't feeling alcohol, they also have a selection of mocktails to choose from.
Their food is supplied by Futuro, a family-friendly restaurant next door, so check in with them to find out when the kitchen closes.
Imbibe Bar & Game Room
When you want to end the weekend on an extra exciting note, you can attend the Sunday night karaoke events at Imbibe Bar & Game Room. This venue is inside the Fountain Square Theater and has a game room that is open seven days a week with five pool tables and a selection of other bar games. You can drink craft brew beers from Indiana and regional breweries or choose from a selection of quality wines.
The Karaoke party starts at 9 p.m. on Sunday and lasts until 1 a.m., and you can partake in any of the game rooms attractions between your favorite songs, or you can check out the rooftop bar.
The best thing about karaoke is that you don't need to be the best singer in town to have the best time. Indianapolis is full of great bars that offer good times and great tunes in one location.
