Two 2017 Nissan Models Earn TSP Rating from IIHS

Toward the end of last year, we were thrilled to tell you that three 2017 Nissan cars earned the highest safety rating possible from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the Top Safety Pick+. As you may remember, the 2017 Nissan Altima, the 2017 Nissan Maxima, and the 2017 Nissan Rogue all earned the TSP+ distinction for their performance in various crashworthiness, headlight, and front crash prevention technology tests.

Right now, we’re happy to tell you that as the IIHS has continued to test new model-year cars, two other 2017 Nissan automobiles have earned the IIHS’s second highest rating, Top Safety Pick. The two Nissan vehicles that received this coveted distinction are the 2017 Nissan Sentra and the 2017 Nissan Murano. Earning the TSP rating means the Nissan Sentra and the new Nissan Murano are considered to be among the safest vehicles in their respective automotive classes.

To receive the TSP rating, a car must get a score of good in the following crash tests:

·        Small Overlap Front

·        Moderate Overlap Front

·        Side

·        Roof Strength

·        Head Restraints

In addition to earning the mark of good in each of the tests mentioned above, an automobile must also receive a score of advanced or superior for its front crash prevention system to earn the TSP rating.

The Nissan Sentra and the 2017 Nissan Murano have more than “just” an excellent safety rating from the IIHS. They also have safety features consumers expect new Nissan vehicles to have. On the base trim of the Nissan Murano, for instance, you’ll find automatic headlights, LED running lights, and a rearview camera.
