Being Indianapolis, IN Nissan dealers, we’re thrilled that the brand we proudly represent is constantly making innovations as part of its Nissan Intelligent Mobility mission. And we’re just as excited to tell you that Nissan owners will soon be able to use voice commands through Amazon Alexa to get their Nissan cars to do certain things.

Later this month, Alexa will get a new skill that’s powered by NissanConnect Services which will provide a new way for Nissan owners to communicate with their automobiles. If you already use Alexa, then you probably know the intelligent device has more than 25,000 skills. Soon, the Nissan brand’s connected car skill will be added to Alexa’s ever-growing list of skills. You’ll be able to find the free  Services skill in the connected car skill category in the Amazon Skills Store once it’s available.

To use the new skill, you’ll have to have an active subscription to NissanConnect Services and a Nissan Owner Portal account. Owners of select Nissan models such as the 2017 Nissan Altima and the 2017 Nissan Maxima will be able to use the new Alexa skill to start, but the skill will be available to the owners of more Nissan models down the line. Once the skill is enabled, you’ll be able to do things like lock and unlock your car, honk your horn, flash your lights, and start or stop your engine using Alexa.

"Intelligent integration means helping our customers even when they are not behind the wheel," said Dan Teeter, director, Vehicle Connected Services, Nissan North America, Inc. "We are about bringing unexpected innovations to customers, and are excited to offer this technology to both existing and new Nissan owners."
