Luckily, our team at Tom Wood Nissan put together this guide on everything you need to know about window tinting.

What is a Window Tint?

Window tinting is quite common, but what do you really know about it? When it comes to vehicles, a window tint is a thin laminate film that is applied to the glass of your car windows. The tint can be applied to either the interior or exterior of the vehicle using soapy water or a special lubricating spray.

Generally, window tints can block a large percentage of light from entering your vehicle, but the legal tint limit in Indiana is 30%, which means you can’t block out more than 70% of sunlight.

Three Benefits of Window Tinting

  • Privacy: By blocking external light, tinting your window gives you privacy while you drive. It will be difficult for other people to see inside your vehicle with a window tint.
  • Preservation: UV rays can wreak havoc on the interior of your car. Over time the sun will cause your interior to fade or crack, but window tinting can reduce or minimize the sun’s impact.
  • Reduce Temperature: Tinting your windows also helps keep the inside of your cabin cool by providing some much-needed shade while you’re parked or in bumper-to-bumper traffic.
