Have you been thinking about buying a used Nissan car? If you’re in the Carmel, IN, area then you have to start your search at Tom Wood Nissan. Here’s a guide to our dealership’s used Nissan car inspection process.

#1: Inspect the Exterior

We’ll make note of any dents, scratches, or damage and see if they can be repaired. Usually, we ask the following questions during this portion:

  • Can I open and close the doors without issue?
  • Are there any damages to the paint job? Is there any rust?
  • Is the glass on the windshield in good shape? Can I open and close the windows?
  • How do the tires look? Do they need to be replaced?

#2: Check Out the Interior

Inside the vehicle, we focus on three main areas:

  • Upholstery/Carpet: We note any tears, stains, or damage to the fabric. If the upholstery is in good shape, then we’ll turn on the car to inspect the dash.
  • Instruments: On the dashboard, there are many gauges for fuel, speed, mileage, etc. We make sure these are not only functioning but that they give accurate readings.
  • Dashboard Controls: We’ll finish inside the vehicle by testing the A/C, the radio, and the windshield wipers to see that everything works.

#3: Acquire a Vehicle History Report

Before we sell the vehicle, we make sure that it has a clean history. Ask about services like CARFAX™ to get an in-depth report on any accidents, upgrades, and previous owners.

#4: Test Drive It

Finally, we’ll take the car for a test drive and see how it performs, as well as make sure our dealers know it inside and out. If all goes well, then it’ll become part of our used Nissan inventory.
