On Valentine's Day, you can demonstrate your love to your spouse and enjoy some romance. There are many places in the Indianapolis, Indiana, area where you and your partner can spend Valentine's Day. If you can't celebrate exactly on February 14, there are lots of ways to celebrate on other days as well. Here are some of the best Valentine's Day events in the area during the month of February. 

Valentine's Day With the ISO

The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra will perform at the historic Hilbert Circle Theatre on February 11 and 12, the Friday and Saturday before Valentine's Day, at 8 p.m. The ISO was founded in 1930, and the theater has beautiful, classic art deco decor. 

Canadian jazz singer Denzal Sinclaire will perform with the orchestra. He'll sing some of Nat King Cole's most popular hits and a variety of other romantic songs. Jacob Joyce will conduct the show, and before it starts, you can hang out in the Encore Lounge with your date. A variety of fine wines are available, or you can choose a chocolate or lemon drop martini. You can also enjoy a beer or a truffle with dark chocolate, raspberry, Key lime, and caramel. 

Hotel Tango's Valentine's Bae Brunch

The Hotel Tango Distillery opened in 2014, and it was the first distillery in the area since Prohibition. To honor the owner's military service, the name is based on the NATO phonetic alphabet. Hotel stands for Hillary, and Tango stands for Travis, the owners' first names. This place offers gin, rye whiskey, cherry liqueur, bourbon, vodka, wild rum, orangecello, and lemoncello. At the Valentine's Bae Brunch, you can enjoy biscuits from the local 4 Birds Bakery in Fountain Square and homemade chorizo gravy. You'll also get two cocktails and a dessert. This event starts on Valentine's Day at 10 a.m. 

The Be My Valentine Cupcake 5K

The Be My Valentine Cupcake 5K happens on February 12 at 10:15 a.m. This year is the 10th anniversary of this fun race, and there's also a half marathon that starts at 10 a.m. for people who don't want to run the full course. All participants in both races will get a magnetic candy heart medal, a souvenir tumbler of hot chocolate or coffee, and a souvenir fleece blanket. 

Many other amenities are available, including cupcakes, hooded sweatshirts, heated tents with tables, and free photos with a cute Valentine's Day backdrop. You can also get hot chili from Loughmiller's Pub, beer, or wine. A DJ will play romantic Valentine's Day tunes throughout both races. If you can't make it to the race, you can compete in a virtual version by timing yourself on a run wherever you are. After you register and submit your online results, you'll get a package with all the free stuff that people who attended in-person received.

The Rathskeller Restaurant

The Rathskeller Restaurant has a luxurious style and authentic German cuisine. It's in the 19-century Athenaeum Building, a National Historic Building in downtown Indianapolis. On Valentine's Day, you can enjoy live music from the Grabow Band. There's also a three-course meal and a champagne toast. You can start with Danish brie with toasted almonds, Chambord raspberry sauce, apples, grapes, and fresh bread. 

The Brat N' Kraut Balls have sausage, beef, bratwurst, sauerkraut, and onions deep fried in breading. They also come with three dipping sauces. For dinner, you can try the Rouladen, a beef rollup with onions, bacon, spicy mustard, a pickle wedge, and homemade brown gravy. 

The Schlacht Plate has a smoked, center-cut pork chop with a sauce made of apples, golden raisins, walnuts, and herbs. The vegetarian Greek pasta comes with fresh spinach, Kalamata olives, grilled Portobello mushrooms, zucchini, eggplant, pine nuts, garlic sauce, and garlic herb feta cheese. Vegans can order any five side dishes to form the mixed vegetable platter. For dessert, you can order Rathskeller bread pudding with white chocolate, raspberries, raspberry sauce, and vanilla sauce. The German chocolate cheesecake has coconut-pecan icing, an Oreo crust, and a layer of hot fudge. 

Nickel Plate Arts

At Nickel Plate Arts, you and your date can have fun and exercise your creativity. This place is in Noblesville, about 40 minutes away from Indianapolis. Valentine's Day Date Nights on February 11, 12, and 14 will have four crafting stations, live music, and a variety of refreshments. You can learn about drawing, painting, sculpting, and more. 

You can also support local artists by buying a take-home date night kit for yourself and your date. Shipping for kits is available for an additional fee. Women can also attend the Galantine's Day brunch on February 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will have a waffle bar, a mimosa bar, fun games, and lots of interesting gifts. 

The Nestle Inn's Everything Chocolate Cooking Class 

The Everything Chocolate Cooking Class at the Nestle Inn is a great way to celebrate Valentine's Day with your spouse. It's on February 12 at 3:30 p.m. you and your spouse can learn how to make chocolate candy, cupcakes, cookies, and more. After your class, you can reserve a room at the Nestle Inn, a quaint six-room bed and breakfast with contactless self-check-in and a voucher for breakfast at the nearby Henry's Coffee Bistro or Coat Check Coffee. The Nestle Inn is a historic building constructed in 1896. 

Love Is in the Air: Rubies, Ania's Song & Tango Forever 

Love Is in the Air is a Valentine's Day performance by the Indianapolis Ballet, and it has three parts. In Rubies, the dancers wear exquisite, hand-sewn red costumes covered with hundreds of jewels. Artistic Director Victoria Lyras choreographed Ania's Song. This neo-classical ballet portrays the relationships between two couples, and a string quartet accompanies the dancers onstage. 

Thomas Beczkiewicz commissioned the music for his wife, Ania, on her 60th birthday. Award-winning composer James Aikman created the piece around her initials, A., D., and B. Tango Forever is a milonga, a tango dance party with dancers performing a series of different tangos. You can see this performance on February 14 and 15 at 7:30 p.m. and February 16 at 3 p.m.
