When looking for the right vehicle for your business, it's always important to consider your individual needs, the overall purpose of the vehicle, and how often it will be in use. Most commercial vans carry a combination of passengers and equipment, so understanding the needs of your business will inform your decision and help you make the best possible selection. Read on to see which version of Nissan's commercial vans is right for your business needs.

NV Cargo vs. NV200 Cargo

When you're in the market for a new commercial vehicle to help support your business, there are few automobiles as dependable as Nissan's commercial vans. Whether you select the NV Cargo or the NV200 Cargo will depend on your needs and the individual capabilities and features found on the individual vans. For those that need to haul a lot of equipment from worksite to worksite but need to secure tools and keep them from the elements, the Nissan NV Cargo is a good choice. It has the features of a full-size pickup truck meshed with a functional panel van. However, if your needs are versatile but lighter, the Nissan NV200 Cargo may be a better selection.

Towing Capacity vs. Maneuverability

The towing capacity on the NV Cargo far outshines the NV200 Cargo. Because the Nissan NV Cargo has shared underpinnings with the popular Nissan Titan pickup, the Cargo provides truck-caliber strength with the versatility of a cargo van. And because it's available as a V8, there's even more possibility for power under the hood. The Nissan NV200 offers the reduced capabilities of a full-sized panel van, and it's good for light jobs and boasts 122.7 feet of cargo space while maintaining the ability to maneuver through tight parking garages and alleys.

Fuel Efficiency

If you're trying to cut back on fuel costs, the NV200 Cargo is a better option. It has a naturally aspirated 2.0L 4-cylinder engine with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that routes energy to the front wheels. This conserves energy usage, giving the NV200 Cargo an impressive 24 miles per gallon in the city and 26 miles per gallon on the highway.

However, because the NV Cargo has strength behind it and boasts a rather large towing capacity for its size, the engine (on any trim option) is stronger and needs more fuel. No matter the trim, the engines each route power to rear-wheel drive, giving the

NV Cargo strength but sacrificing fuel efficiency.

Trims

The NV Cargo provides more options regarding trim levels and is available in 1500, 2500, and 3500 configurations, as well as S, SV, and SL trims. Both the 1500 and 2500 are offered in S and SV trims, while the 3500 is also available in SV and SL trims. The 2500 S features a standard backup camera, power windows, tilt steering column, and manually adjustable seats. A cool feature on the 2500 S is the ability to fold down the front passenger seat to reveal a seat back tray table to help take notes or write receipts before heading out to the next work site or call.

Other standard features on the NV Cargo include Bluetooth connectivity and a touchscreen audio display. The SV trim includes backup sensors, power-adjustable side mirrors, backup sensors, and interior cargo panels. Additional and optional features are a lockable center console, navigation, and satellite radio.

The NV200 Cargo is only offered in an S or SV trim. The base S trim has standard 15-inch wheels, dual sliding doors, six-way manually-adjustable front seats, power windows, and cargo tie-downs. The NV200 has slightly more advanced technology and is equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, accessible using the standard 7-inch infotainment touchscreen. To protect the vehicle, the SV trim has plastic coverings for the wheels, lumbar adjustments, and armrests on the seats.

Nissan provides several conversion packages for the NV200, allowing you to tailor the vehicle to fit your needs. The conversion packages include food services, ladder racks, lifts, ramps, and cargo solutions.

Accessories and Upfits

The NV Cargo has several options to help you tailor the vehicle to your desired specifications. Both affiliated and Nissan Genuine Accessories can be added to help you make the best use of your vehicle. Lifts, storage, lighting, heating, refrigeration, and more can add

to the functionality of your commercial van. The NV200 can also be customized with both aftermarket and Nissan Genuine Accessories with roof racks, drawers, and other special features.

Interior and Cargo Room

The NV Cargo is spacious and best suited for larger hauls and cargo. With 243-degree opening rear doors and the standard roof, the NV Cargo has a large 2,341 cubic feet of cargo space. The high roof option on the NV Cargo expands the space to an impressive 3,231 cubic feet. With the rearview monitor up front and the versatile front seating, drivers can back up with ease and confidence, knowing they can safely see all around.

The NV200 may be best suited for lighter loads, such as small deliveries by a florist, cake decorator, or food delivery. The small back area has easy-open doors, and a convenient 122.7 cubic feet of cargo room to harness down items more securely and access them much more easily. The convenient fold-down passenger seat provides additional storage space and an easy area to help you organize yourself while you're on the go. Under-seat storage can help keep important items and documents safe, secured, and out of sight.

Both the Nissan NV Cargo and the Nissan NV200 Cargo have ceased production in the year 2021. Although 2021 is the last model year, Nissan continues to provide support for the vans.
